For those buying On-Market, or Affordable Care Act (ACA), health plans, enrollment starts on November 1, 2026. To have coverage that starts January 1, 2027, you must enroll by December 15, 2026.
For those buying Off-Market health plans, enrollment starts on October 1, 2026. To have this coverage that starts January 1, 2027, you must enroll by December 31, 2026. Open Enrollment for everyone ends on January 15, 2027. This could be your last chance to enroll for the year unless you qualify for Special Enrollment.

- File your 2024 taxes: Make sure you've filed your taxes and reconciled your tax credit using IRS Form 8962.
- Update your eligibility information: You'll need to provide proof of your current income, such as a paystub, W-2, or 1040.
- Gather required documents: You'll need to provide documents that show your:
- Household income
- Immigration status
- Citizenship confirmation
- Adoption, foster care placement, or court order confirmation (if applicable)
- Create an online account: Make sure you have a Healthcare.gov account. You'll need this to enroll in a plan and get your tax credit.

- Select a plan by the deadline: Choose a plan and confirm your eligibility for a tax credit by the deadline to avoid any changes to your premium.
